My journey really began when I was 19 years old. Actually, the preparation for this life excursion began way before that, but my eternal destiny took me from the University of Arizona and my Kappa Alpha Theta house to Bible School, meeting my husband and entering Ethnos 360 training to reach unreached tribes for Christ. These last few years have been filled with The Princess Parable Series and seeing these books take on a life of their own.
As a young missionary mom teaching my two little princesses to read, I would sit in a hammock in the middle of our living room deep in the dense Darien Panamanian jungle, my heart yearning for material that would introduce my girls to characters, storylines and texts that they would love and even purpose to grow into. Each book I picked up presented a unique challenge, in that it told a story but did not introduce my girls to bible-based, character- emphasized prince and princesses they could aspire to become with principles that they could incorporate into their young lives! I would take every book I picked up and purpose to impose these elements into the pages in terms they could understand that had eternal values targeted. My heart was burdened for just such a book, not just for myself, but for other young moms, like me, that longed for a tool that would give their little princesses a clear application and a pragmatic understanding of truth from the Word of God.
Years passed and my girls grew and began to have little ones of their own. My oldest daughter, Christina, gave me my first grandchild…a beautiful little princess named Catherine. Christina would ask me to tell Catherine the stories that she was told in that hammock long ago … would I please write these stories down?
It was at this juncture that I received a call from a young mom I had mentored in my home and grown to love as my own daughter. God had recently challenged her with the same burden I had carried all those years, asking me to join hands with her in taking this task on! It has been a delight to see God bind our hearts together and bring these books to life. The Princess Parable Series is a result of God’s persistent urging and faithfulness. Neither my co-author nor I have any experience in writing. We came to the task with God’s directing and leading every step of the way. We have merely stepped into the footprint that He left behind as He has led us to this point. God put this team together and we are blessed with a mutual respect, trust and unity that keep these princesses real and the goal in sight.
This Princess Parable Blog is envisioned to reflect glory back to Him…We trust that God will take our offering of His blessing and be glorified. Our prayer is that mother’s everywhere will take The Princess Parable Series and nurture their little ones with a Princess Story that teaches a biblical Parable, has a godly worldview and a princess that bears a name that introduces a character-quality that they can visualize enthusiastically becoming.
Jeanna Young, my co-author, and I have two seasonal Princess Parable Easter and Christmas book available now and Zondervan (Thomas Nelson) has released the Princess Parables in five I CAN READ hardbacks, Level 1 and 2 books for the emergent reader. Our Brand has expanded to also include A PRINCESS SISTERS TREASURY and A PRINCESS PARABLECOLLECTION, Sticker and Activity Books, Small Vinyl books and Bath Books for tiny princesses, Boxed Coloring Books with Markers, and 5 Princess Dolls to accompany each of the five Princess books, along with a Limited Edition of a 12” inch Princess Grace doll. Zondervan is also delighted, as are we, to offer a SPANISH edition of three of the PRINCESS PARABLE SERIES (Princesa FE, Princesa Esperanza, and Princesa Caridad)!
Moms across the country, have asked for books for their little princes and young knights and for Chapter Books for the continuing Princess Parable Series. Part of our original vision was a series called THE KNIGHT CHRONICLES to meet that need. The young knights have been introduced in our two seasonal books, “A Royal Easter Story” and “A Royal Christmas to Remember” hardcovers. Most recently, we have been approached by a Media Company that is interested in taking our Princesses and adapting them for animation.
We want to take this opportunity to thank each of you
who have been such a large part of this journey
of seeing these five girls come to life
in the hearts of your little prince and princesses.
